ABN AMRO hiked its basic package 16% in one move for 2026. Just holding the account now costs €51.60 a year, and every card payment outside the eurozone gets taxed twice: a fixed fee plus a markup.

The BasisPakket Betalen costs €4.30 per month since 1 January 2026, up from €3.70 in 2025. That is €51.60 per year before any extras.
Each non-euro debit card payment costs a fixed €0.15 plus a 1.2% exchange rate markup on the amount.
Up to €17,500 per account holder per calendar year. Above that, every withdrawal costs €5 plus 0.5% of the amount.
A second debit card costs about €1.50 per month and an extra current account costs €1.90 per month, both on top of the €4.30 package fee.
An arranged overdraft on the BasisPakket carries 9.9% annual interest. You have to request the overdraft facility separately.
