Questions people actually ask

How do I avoid the Commerzbank account fee?

Since May 2025 there is only one way: keep at least €50,000 in assets at Commerzbank under the same customer number, including current, savings and securities accounts. Otherwise you pay €4.90 every month.

Does a salary deposit make the Commerzbank GiroKonto free?

Not anymore. The old waiver for monthly incoming payments was scrapped in May 2025. Now only the €50,000 asset threshold removes the €4.90 monthly fee.

What is Commerzbank's Dispo interest rate?

11.90% per year on the arranged overdraft, and 14.40% on the tolerated overdraft beyond your limit. Direct banks charge several points less.

Where can I withdraw cash for free with Commerzbank?

At Commerzbank ATMs and the Cash Group network in Germany (Deutsche Bank, HypoVereinsbank, Postbank). Foreign-currency withdrawals with the girocard cost 1% with a minimum of €5.98 per withdrawal.

Does Commerzbank charge for transfers?

Online and app transfers are free. But any transfer you order on paper, by phone or via an employee costs €3.90 each.
